Podcast Episode 1: 17 Years of Ownership, Mentorship & Growth

Dr. Heath Colledge has been a dentist for nearly 19 years and 17 of those have been at Comfort Dental’s Golden, Colorado location.

In this first episode of the Comfort Dental Podcast, he shares why he made the switch early in his career and why he’s stayed ever since.

After graduating from dental school, Dr. Colledge worked as an associate in private practice. While he gained clinical skills, he quickly realized he lacked exposure to the business side of dentistry. When he discovered Comfort Dental’s partnership model — built on ownership, mentorship, and operational efficiency — it offered both support and autonomy.

Instead of practicing alone, he joined a team of partners who shared the business responsibilities and mentored one another. Over time, he transitioned from being mentored to becoming the mentor — now helping younger doctors gain confidence, increase clinical efficiency, and build financially stable practices.

Dr. Colledge also explains Comfort Dental’s philosophy of focusing on “bread-and-butter” dentistry — serving more patients efficiently, keeping fees affordable, and improving access to care. That model allows Comfort Dental to accept Medicaid and lower reimbursement plans while still remaining financially strong.

For patients, his approach is simple: clear communication, limited treatment options, no judgment, and a focus on getting people out of pain quickly.

For dentists, it’s about ownership, hard work, mentorship, and building something sustainable.

Seventeen years later, Dr. Colledge still loves dentistry — not just because of the procedures, but because of the people, the mentorship, and the model that makes it all work.
